Questions we get frequently asked
What is Thanika?
Thanika is a Burmese tree bark powder from the Limonia Acidissima tree. It’s golden yellow and smells of vanilla, and is commonly painted onto faces by locals in Burma to beautify and protect skin from the sun. There is evidence that Thanika can be helpful in fighting free radicals, and it is also thought to have some tyrosinase activity. (These activities have been shown to even out skin tone and prevent sun damage).
What are actives Coumarin and Marmesin?
Coumarin and Marmesin are naturally occurring phytochemicals also found in cinnamon, with a range of interesting properties currently being studied, including anti-inflammatory abilities. They are also thought to be involved in reducing or preventing conditions related to hyperpigmentation of the skin, such as melasma and sun related age spots.
Does Wild Turmeric stain skin?
Using regular Turmeric mixed with water to create a home mask may well leave you and your sink bright yellow. Wild Turmeric is less staining, and is a better choice for skincare formulas. In order to prevent staining, Wild Turmeric can be encapsulated into an emulsion, with a gentle natural soap agent, like sucrose stearate so it washes off easily and completely.
